The movement of water molecules across a selectively permeable membrane, from a region of higher water concentration to a region of lower water concentration. It is a special case of diffusion involving only the solvent.
Ordinary Level
The movement of water through a membrane from a weaker solution to a stronger one. It is a special kind of diffusion.
