Higher Level
A rigid layer lying outside the cell membrane in plant, fungal and bacterial cells. In plants it is made of cellulose, and it gives support and stops the cell bursting when water enters by osmosis.
Ordinary Level
A strong outer layer made of cellulose found around plant cells. It gives the cell support and keeps its shape.
