Higher Level
A biomolecule made of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, with the hydrogen and oxygen usually present in a two to one ratio. Carbohydrates range from simple sugars such as glucose to polysaccharides such as starch and cellulose.
Ordinary Level
A food type made of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, such as sugar and starch. Carbohydrates give the body energy.
