Leaving Cert Biology · Structures and Processes of Life
Higher Level
A section of DNA that codes for a particular characteristic, usually by directing the making of a protein. Each gene occupies a fixed position, called its locus, on a chromosome.
Ordinary Level
A short piece of DNA that controls one feature, such as eye colour. Genes are passed on from parents to their children.
